Fall Wine Session: Bordeaux
Fall Wine Session: Bordeaux
Nowhere else in the world do rivers impact a wine region as much as here.
When the Dordogne and Garonne river meet they form the Gironde estuary. What is known as enter-deux-mers (between two oceans, Dordogne and Garonne), marks one of the biggest regions of Bordeaux, producing white wines from the Sauvignon Blanc, Muscadelle and Semillon grape.
Sauternes wines on the other side, the most famous sweet wine region in the world, hover right at the banks of the Garonne allowing the grapes to form the noble rot called “Botrytis Cinerea”.
Ultimately we will talk about the famous term of left bank vs. right bank and compare Cabernet heavy reds from the Medoc with the more velvety Bordeaux from the right bank of the river Dordogne.
Let the French be part of your Christmas this year. =)
Cheers,
Your VV crew
